Arizona Cardinals coach Steve Wilks pointed to a lot of areas that need improvement on the team following a 34-0 loss and starting 0-2 this season.
- These quarterbacks have started at least one game for the National Football League (NFL)'s Arizona Cardinals. They are listed in order of the date of each player's first start at quarterback for the Cardinals.
- The Arizona Cardinals face several big questions this offseason, and none is bigger than who will play quarterback for them in 2018. Carson Palmer announced his retirement, and with Blaine Gabbert.
He has suggested some personnel moves are coming.
However, one position will not change yet. Sam Bradford will continue to be the starting quarterback. He will not be replacing him with rookie Josh Rosen.
“If I thought it was just that one position, I would be more than willing to say, ‘You know what? We need to make a change,'” he said at his Monday meeting with the media. “But it’s not just Sam.”
And it isn’t just problems at quarterback.
Wilks believes, even with the terrible stats, Bradford “is doing well.”
He did not ignore, though, some of the issues.

“Is he inconsistent? Yes,” Wilks said. “Does he need to be a little more accurate? Yes. But that’s not just Sam.”
Wilks knows Bradford needs better protection and more time to make his reads.

At the same time, “Sam’s got to have patience and confidence in the pocket to be able to step up and make that throw” when there is one to be made down the field.
So until the Cardinals manage to fix some of the other problems, it would appear that Wilks is willing to ride Bradford as long as he needs to.
