Points explained
When a team scores in the basket, they receive two points and the ball goes to the other team. Shots scored outside the arch bring three points to the team, whereas a free throw gives one point.
Free throws are awarded to the opposite team when a foul is committed. Fouling a player awards the other team with two or three shots, depending on where the shot was taken. If it beyond the three-point arc, then he receives three shots.
However, other types of fouls accumulate during a half and they’re called “team fouls”. When a certain number is reached, the player receives the opportunity to make a free throw. If he scores, he gets to shoot again, but if he misses, the game continues.

Minnesota Timberwolves (5-15) at San Antonio Spurs (11-10)

The Line: San Antonio Spurs -7.5 -- Over/Under: 223Click to Get Latest Betting Odds
The Minnesota Timberwolves pay a visit to the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center on Wednesday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been doing it tough all season as they’ve lost 15 of their first 20 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling just short to the Cavaliers in a 100-98 road loss on Monday. D’Angelo Russell led the team in scoring with 18 points, Anthony Edwards scored 13 points while Naz Reid and Jaylen Nowell each scored 12 points. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 39 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line as they hung in the contest in the first quarter, but they scored just 15 points in the second quarter and trailed by as many as 10 points early in the fourth quarter, before managing any sort of a run.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in a bit of a rut themselves as they’ve lost four of their past seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after getting routed by the Grizzlies in a 133-102 home loss on Monday. Keldon Johnson led the team in scoring with 25 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, DeMar DeRozan added 14 points with six assists while LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Spurs shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they cut a 12-point halftime deficit to single digits, before getting absolutely blown off the floor in the fourth quarter where they were outscored by 37-19 against the young Grizzlies.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record. The Spurs are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in San Antonio and the Timberwolves are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Spurs haven’t been at their best lately as they’ve really faced some stiff competition in their schedule recently, but they will be eager to get back in the win column after consecutive blowout losses to the Grizzlies. The Timberwolves have been struggling all season and the introduction of Edwards into the starting lineup hasn’t helped them much. The line seems a little hefty, but I really think the Spurs will enjoy the drop in competition so I have them winning by double digits.
